First and foremost, as many of you know, November 8th  marks the transition from the Sixth Day into the Sixth Night of the Galactic Underworld in Mayan astrology.  This astrology is really an elaborate calendar that describes the patterning inherent in the evolution of consciousness.  It does not mark time as we know it but is more like a describer of  cosmic DNA patterning which all things in the universe are governed by.

To quickly re-cap, the calendar divides time into 9 Underworlds, each running co-currently and each 20 times shorter in duration than the last.   Each underworld, in turn, is divided into 13 segments known as Heavens. They, in turn ,are divided into alternating Days and Nights,  A new stage of development emerges everytime there is an energy shift from the Day into Night etc.  As you might expect days are more external and productive times and nights are more internalized. Days are good for moving forward in the world on plans and activities and nights are times for reviewing, eliminating and fine tuning.  Challenging forces in the external world are more prominent during the night phase.

The Sixth Day was considered  to be flowering phase of this current Underworld.. The Sixth Night then, will be the resting and refining stage of what has come to flower in the past year. This energetic shift applies to each of us individually as well as, collectively.

On the global front, Day Six has seen the environmental crisis finally become a world wide concern.  Likewise the world monetary system, which is based on abstracts that have little to do with the natural world, has begun to crumble.  Both of these issues are really a manifestation of the same problem and must be corrected and put into balance during this current Underworld.  As of yet, no far reaching solutions have manifested. To be sure, the Sixth Night will be clarifying and forcing these issues.

To further refine the rythmns present for the next few months lets look at several major planetary alignments in our solar system that are facilitating the new shift in energy?

Saturn in Libra

A few days ago on October 29th Saturn made its first entry into the sign of Libra where it will stay ( with the
exception of a final retrograde into Virgo April 7-Sep. 21 2010) until Oct. 5th 2012.

Saturn is known as a  tough task master and great teacher.  Its energies serve to develop responsibility and maturity  through limiting circumstances.   It is associated with karma what you bring into this lifetime, as well as, what you may create in presently  through wrong actions.   It takes approximately 29 years for this planet to make a cycle around the Zodiac.  Therefore a change of sign brings a significant vibrational shift that will be felt both individually and collectively.

It has been in the earth sign of Virgo for the last few years.  Virgo is concerned with health, work, service, purification and   specialization.   It is worth noting that the global acknowledgement of our planets poor health  has happened while Saturn was in this sign.

So what can we expect of Saturn in Libra? 

Libra belongs to the element of air  — which is associated with ideas and communication.  Libra itself rules relationships, the arts and most importantly balance and justice.  Saturn is in exaltation in this sign, which mean that its energies can shine here when challenges are faced and responsibility is taken.

On a personal front the issues ruled by Libra will likely take a more prominent role in your life in the next 3 years.  Work may need to be done in one or more of these areas.   Issues that have not been thoroughly dealt with will demand attention now.  Likewise successes that come during this time frame  — have been properly earned and are enduring in nature.

On the collective front it is interesting to note that Saturn resides in this sign until late 2012, very near the end date of the Mayan Calendar.  Libra’s concern for balance and fair play resonates appropriately with the over riding purpose of the Galactic Underworld , that is to correct the imbalances of polarity thinking in preparation for the birthing of unity concsiousness in the ninth Underworld.

Saturn square Pluto

To expand further, Saturn is now in an exact aspect which is called a square (stressful) with the planet Pluto.   This will be in effect until mid-Febuary of next year. The symbolism of this combination is about breaking down old structures that are no longer effective.  Saturn is the structure building force and Pluto by nature is transformational.  Because they are in a stressful aspect  resistance is present and significant change may not come easily.

T-Square Saturn, Pluto and Uranus

This aspect is actually part of a larger planetary configuration which includes the opposition between Saturn and Uranus  These two planets have been in opposition to eachother since the start of the Sixth Day last November.  Oppositions, as the name implies, put the planets in a contradictory relationship —one that is hard to find resolution for.  Saturn represents the structured, status quo and Uranus represents revolutionary, futuristic and humanitarian urges.  These forces have been in a kind of stalemate throughout most of the last year. Pluto is now in a challenging aspect to both planets.  It will bring its transformational energies to the plate and create an outlet for these planetary energies to act through..  Resolution will become possible, in fact, necessary because Pluto energy demands deep, inevitable, transformation change.  This t-square aspect will stay in effect throughout the entire time frame of the Sixth Night.

On a global level the Sixth Day has seen steps taken to improve the economy and the environment.   However, as the symbolism of the opposition would suggest, attempts at change have met with resistance and as of yet little more than patch job solutions. Now that Pluto on board that will change!.

How this may influence you on an individual level, depends alot on where and how it interacts with your personal birth chart. That is what houses (departments of life) they are presently transiting and whether or not they are in close aspect to either the angles or any planets of in your birthchart. Close aspects to your chart will have a much more dynamic impact, however, this configuration does resonates at some level for everyone.

Mars retrograde

Finally, Mars will be going retrograde in the sign of Leo from Dec.20th of this year until March10th of 2010.
Mars is the action planet.  It represents our motivational forces, ego drive and self interest.  It is a volatile force associated with conflict and struggle.

Retrograde motion slows down and internalizes planetary energies.  While Mars is retrograde expect plans and activities to be delayed or thwarted and anger to flare. Where ever actions have been premature or ill conceived, review and redirection will be called for.
Leo rules, authority, creativity, children, pleasure activities and romance.  These are the areas that the Mars retrograde is likely to act in in your life..  Mars entered Leo on October16th and will not be fully clear of the retrograde phase until it reaches 20 degrees Leo  on May 19th of next year.  So in some respects the first stage of this process has already begun….

The Sixth Night promises to be a time of dynamic fine tuning of the forces put into place during the Sixth Day.

Summer is in full bloom and I certainly hope everyone is taking the time to enjoy this peak season in the ways you know best! Summer also signals eclipse season and we have recently experienced two of them. First the lunar eclispse on July 7th followed two weeks later by a the solar eclipse on july 21st. Particularily, last tuesday’s solar eclipse had some unusual factors that I’d like to comment on.

Solar eclipses are always a new moon happening. This year’s was at 29 and a half degrees cancer — which is at the very end of the sign. Any placement at the end of a sign indicates a fullness of the expression for the qualities that sign represents. Cancer is the sign that rules motherhood, family, home, nourishment, the generations and the emotional/ intuitive nature. These themes are playing out large in our lives now. Notably, it was the 2nd new moon in cancer in a month which was an unusual occurance. June 21nd’s new moon was at 1/2 degree cancer — the very beginning of the sign. Couple this with the fact that it was the longest eclipse of the century and you have a kind of cosmic underlining which serves to emphasize its meaning for us.

This lengthy eclipse was six minutes in duration. In numerology the number six is associated with family, relationships, community and love. All of which echo the vibration struck by its placement in the nurturing sign of cancer. Collectively it represents another marker that is helping to bring balance to our planet by aligning with the sacred feminine
principal. Bringing balance to humanity and the planet as a whole is the driving purpose of the current galactic ‘underworld’ which we are in.

On a personal note any planet in your chart that falls in close connection with the degree of the eclipse will be high-lighted in your life for the couple of months surrounding the eclipse. The house that it falls in will be an area of increased activity and meaning for you, as well.

One more comment, the eclipse was conjunct the moon’s south node in Leo, the sign of love, creativity and children. South nodes are about releasing the past. This alignment refers to the necessity of healing generational karma within our family systems at this time. It is a necessary step in order to clear the way for the paradigm shift as described by the Mayan calendar.

In my May newsletter I talked about the jupiter, chiron and neptune conjunction that is in effect for such a long time this year. This rare triple conjunction provides the opportunity for us to heighten our compassionate natures, deepen spiritual awareness and lay the new foundations for a more authentic and heart-centered way of being.

In the last few weeks these planets have gone retrograde in motion. Retrogrades slow down and internalize action. This summer we are experiencing a kind of inner rooting and integration process. If your recent plans seem to have been haulted take heart, in the fall when these planets go direct again you will be able to move forward again. This triple conjunction will come together for a final time in Dec./Jan. by which time the ground work will have been layed for what promises to be a very dymanic year in 2010.

To summerize,the eclipses and the triple conjunction are two of a number of cosmic alignments supporting the great paradgim shift in consciousness we are in the midst of. This summer’s phase is creating an opening for humanity to deepen their connections with devine forces, open to and integrate the higher vibrations that are available to us now and to release any generational and inner child wounding each of us may still be connected with.

Micheal Jackson

In a number of ways Micheal Jackson ’s life and death exemplify some of these generational and inner child wounding themes that need to be released. I believe his story has held such a fascination for so many people because it resonates on a collective level.

There is much that could be said in reference to his chart and I will be analazing it in detail on my website in the coming weeks. . What I’d like to bring forward at the moment is his character defining sun, pluto,moon,opposition which resided in his eleventh and fifth house in his birthchart. These opposing houses are associated with how a person experiences love in their life. The fifth describes how one gives love and the eleventh shows how one receives it. The fifth house which is Leo’s natural house is personal and intimate in nature. It is also associated with romance, creativity and children. The eleventh house which is aquarius’ natural house is more impersonal and socially aware. It is associated with humanitarian causes, social welfare and groups of people.

The balance and integration of opposing forces is the objective of the opposition aspect. Characteristically alot of swinging back and forth in extreme behaviors and projections is the initial action between the planets. It can take a long time to create the understanding and integration that is required. A mis-managed opposition brings the shadow natures of the planets in question to the forefront.

In Micheal’s case, his moon ( mother-family- nurturing principal ) was in the 5th house which rules creativity, children and love. — and opposing his sun ( selfhood, father) in the eleventh house. Pluto was conjuncting his sun and also opposing his moon. Pluto function is to bring deep transformative and inevitable change into a person’s life.. It is also associated with large mass movements and is one of the markers in his chart that shows his tendancy to do things in a big way impacting people on a mass level. When poorly handled its energy is controling and obsessive in behavior.

Micheal was also experiencing his chiron return. Chiron , known as the wounded healer had recently made its first ( 50 -51 year) cycle around his chart passing over the birth placement of 19 degrees aquarius. The chiron return will open up the primal issues associated with the deepest wounds a person has in their life. Micheal’s was in the 4th house of family and very near the fifth house of love, creativity and children. The chiron return demands a deepening in understanding and consciousness through the replay of our most challenging stumbling blocks in life. These are typically routed in early childhood experiences. The chiron return provides an individual one more opportunity to master themselves, to transent their deepeest areas of pain and limitation and to become more authentically themselves. If the steps to full maturity are not taken at this time the individual will remain in victim/victimizer mode never feeling like they are in full control of their lives.

Michael played his wounded child themes out on the world stage. Many of his issues appear to have been largely unresolved and by all accounts he chose escapist behaviors and drug dependancy as a way to cope — a common choice in our current world. His story is a dramatic exampling how chiron themes can function in a person’s life when not fully recognized.

First, it’s that time again- (sorry) — Mercury, the communication planet, goes retrograde from wednesday May 7th through to May 31 st. Retrograde or reverse motion frustrates the natural flow of energy for a planet. The departments of life that it rules become confused and inward moving. This shift in motion manifests externally as delays, false starts and crossed wires. I’d advise putting off signing contracts or making major plans if you can during this time period. The type of communication that will work effectively for you now is research, review, negotiations and reflection.

Another significant alignment is the triple conjunction Remember that traditionally – spring equinox until summer solstice are considered the best time of year to plant your personal seeds for the of jupiter,neptune and chiron. All are in very close connection with eachother through May and June —then each in turn goes retrograde and all continue to stay in close proximity over the summer. This conjunction (meaning they are all at the same degree of the zodiac) is in the sign of aquarius . Its the sign that rules revolutionary changes, futuristic thinking and humanitarian causes . It is also the sign of the new age we are moving into. Because it is of unusually long duration (4 months) its influence is magnified and ongoing –suggesting times for signifigant changes in the areas the planets rule.

Conjunctions highlight and amplify the areas of life they rule. The meanings the planets symbolize blend together influencing eachother greatly during this time.
Jupiter rules our spiritual belief systems, creates abundance and expansivness in all it touches and has a benvolent and protective influence.
Neptune represents spirituality, surrender and creative inspiration.
Chiron, known as the ‘wounded healer’ represents the journey of deepening awareness and integration (healing) we take during the most difficult and challenging of life experiences.

What does that all mean? Its an excellent time for heightened compassion, deepening spiritual awareness and planning for the future.

May 9- 11 marks the halfway point of the 6th day in the Mayan calendar count.
To briefly recap what the mayan calendar represents; it is a cosmic method of timing which lays out the inherent pattern for the evolution of consiousness. It is not about linear time as we know it. There are 9 underworlds , each 20 times shorter in duration, 20 times faster in devlopment than the last and each exists simultaniously. We are currently in the second to last underworld called the galactic underworld —1999-2011. Its divided 6 days and 7 nights which are 360 days in duration. Each underworld has a theme to introduce into the spiral of ever evolving consiousness. The purpose of this underworld is to bring balance into the framework. Balance in all of its forms: to the planet, to the races, to the nations, to the genders and within the individual, as well.

The unfoldment of the days and nights of an underworld can be compared to the life cycle of a plant. The sixth day is considered the flowering phase. Additionally, the Mayans attributed its influence to Yohuallicitl ,their goddess of birth. The sixth day (nov 13 ‘08 -nov 7 ‘09 ) is a period of birthing or flowering .
Since the pattern of unfoldment is the same in each underworld, one way to look at what is happening at the halfway point of the sixth day is to look at the halfway point of the sixth day in the pervious ‘planetary’ underworld. That was the year 1962. The early sixties were on the brink of a huge creative and social revolution that was to follow later in the decade. The second half of the 6th day in our current galactic underworld will parellel with the late sixies and the seventies.

Once again, we find ourselves on the brink of wide spread change. There is a global meditation planned over the 2 day period of May 9-11. The focus is about creating a compassionate, holistic and egalitarian planet earth. The stakes are high. Global warming, the population explosion and economic crisis are clearly at issue . There is always free will. Free will within a range of possibilities. How we use ths transitional time is up to us.

In astrology comets represent the infusion of different, unexpected and unusual information from outside sources that have something purtinent to add to our current evolutionary path.

So lets look at some of its characteristics, positioning and influences on us.

Its worth noting that the colour green is representative of the heart chakra. The chakra of christ consiousness and universal love — which is, according to many spiritual teachings, the method for ascension into our new reality in 2012.

Its considered quite an active comet that has ’lost’ and regrown its wayward tail twice already! It
sheds an unusually large amount of water compared to other comets. Water, of course, being the element associated with the emotions and is feminine in nature. Curiously enough, from our vantage point on earth its tail appears to be in front of its head! Coupled with that it is also moving backwards through the zodiac. These ‘contrary’ traits are comparable to retrograde action. Retrograde energy in astrology ‘reverses ‘ the flow of energy where ever it appears. It brings the qualities of slowing down actions, facilitating internal review, and reworking and releasing old methods that were ineffectual or outmoded.

The name Lulin adds up to the number 5 in numerology. This number represents change, adventure and unconventional intelligence. Perhaps the retrograde energy is asking us to infuse these qualities into our lives in a more inventive and creative way then we have in the past.

Its closest passage to earth is on Monday feb 23 at 7:43 pm pst , in the sign of virgo and only 2 degrees away from the planet saturn. Virgo is the sign of service and healing.
Saturn is currently the focal (controlling) planet in the sky which is nearly opposite the preponderance of planets that are in the sign of Aquarius ( jupiter, neptune, mars,mercury, north node, chiron (currently the moon as well). Aquarius is, of course, the sign of the new Age we are moving into. Saturn represents the crystaline nature of matter. Saturn also represents the force that turns concepts into a tangible reality.
Comet Lulin is giving saturn some extra jolts –some cosmic data that is of assistance to help us manifest the humanitarian and progressive values of Aquarius, into our reality.

Saturn has been in close opposition to the planet uranus for some months now. Uranus rules the sign of Aquarius. Lulin will make a close opposition to uranus at the same time that it is conjuncting saturn. Uranus is considered the planet of revolutionary thought and action. The opposition aspect which is energing uranus simply insists on breaking down the outmoded ways of doing things. The tension for this change is great.

Comet Lulin is on its way back from circling our sun and is headed back to the dark reaches of of solar system from where it came. It also passes closest to us during the dark of the moon. Both actions suggest the activation of dark moon goddess energy; the guardians of our subconsious nature and of the shadow side of our being. It is important to realize that embracing our shadow selves is a necessity in order to become a whole and balanced human being.

Lulin is visible (with binoculars) on a clear night, eastern sky and will continue to be visible till mid march before its out of sight.

It is also worth noting that the feminine planet venus will be going retrograde in motion from March 7-Apr 16 in the sign of aries (new beginnings). Its the planet of love, relationships and finances. T Understanding your true feelings regarding these areas of your life is coming up for review soon.

One couldn’t help but get caught up in the excitement of the recent US election and I think that it must be clear to just about everyone that there is a new era dawning.

The election of Obama is timely from the perspective of the Mayan calendar. On Nov. 13th we will move into the next tun of the galactic underworld. That is we are now moving from the fifth night and into the sixth day. The difference between these tuns will be –pardon the pun– the difference between –night and day!

The sixth day is ruled by the birthing goddess and aims to balance spirituality (wisdom and integrity on the political stage) with the materialistic world we have created. Obama pretty much came out of nowhere in the last year or so and certainly seems to be appling a thoughtful, new and inclusive approach to the political scene. Witness too, the cord he strikes with so many people in so many places all around the world. Truly an inspiring person for these dramatic fast changing times we find ourselves in.

This current underworld which started in Jan. 1999 is concerned primarily with balancing the polarity energies –the yin and yang energies– or another way to put it — left brain / right brain thinking. The world has been heavily imbalanced on the yang / left side for millennia. Materialism, war, over emphasis on technology and ’seperative’ thinking are all hallmarks of this imbalance. The galactic underworld is concerned with the development and equalizing of the receptive, intuitive and ‘inclusive’ energies of the yin / right side polarity. This balancing of energies is a necessary prerequisite for the changing of the ages and the higher vibrational level it is bringing.

The movement through the galactic underworld is in an annual (360 day-tun) type of format . It also develops in a progression of ‘day’ and then ‘night’ type of sequencing.. It is helpful to compare the movement we experience thru the tuns with that of the stages a planting cycle. First a seed is planted, then it germinates, then sprouts, grows into full plant ,buds, flowers and finally bares fruit. This is also true of the cycles we experience throughout time.

What’s the sixth day about?

The sixth day is associated with the flowering phase. –On the personal level it provides the timing for you personal truth/purpose — plans to begin unfolding with the assurance that the cosmic timing will support your progress.
On the global front, the excesses and greed of the overly materialistic forces are being brought into balance with the receptive, community, ecological and spiritually based values. It is indeed ’time for change’.

The fifth night —which has been in process since last nov. was all about destroying the old ways and healing the shadow materials within. The sixth day is about taking action and making a firm footing on the new path. The timing–is –at last, right!

For you personally it may be of interest to take a review of the changes in direction on your path that you have been put into place since 1999. —perhaps some were on an unconscious level initially (after all a seed germinates in the dark). What has been struggling to take form in your life over the last few years? What areas in your life have you had to ‘clear the decks’ in?

PLUTO IN CAPRICORN

The Mayan timing is not the only strong indication of fundamental change that is at hand, these days. On Nov. 27 this year pluto will move into the sign of capricorn where it will continue to bring transformative change until 2024. Capricorn rules government, structure and authority. Pluto is the planet that brings inevitable transformative change. The first phase of any transformation is the breaking down of the old out moded structures. It is also the most challenging phase because what has been known is coming apart and what will replace it is often unknown and unformed as of yet.

We are on the brink of a complete restructuring—of global proportions on how we perceive we should be organized and governed.
On an individual level how this slow unfolding movement through capricorn affects you has a lot to do with what is happening for you with that sign in your natal chart.

SATURN OPPOSING URANUS

Saturn and uranus are also in exact opposition in the sky now and will be again in feb. and finally in mid-sep. ‘09. This promises a time of tug of war between the structured status quo and the revolutionary desire to bring reform into one’s life. These two planets create a lot of tension when they are in difficult aspect with each other. Its clear on the global front –with the economic crisis –that confrontation with the old order of doing things is upon us. Discipline is required now because a tendency may exist to want to throw everything over. Revolutions aren’t known for balanced judgement, are they?

Its worth noting that saturn rules capricorn and uranus rules aquarius — the age (precession of the equinox) that we are moving into. The aspect called an opposition functions to bring balance through the understanding and integrating of the opposing forces represented by the 2 planets in opposition. An infusion of the best of the old with the best of the new is what its really being asking for here.

On a personal level and, as always, depending how these transiting planets may effect your natal chart, one can expect a lot of tensions coming to the surface. The break up of out moded structures in your life and the infusion of bright new possibilities is indicated. Changes can happen rather suddenly when uranus is active so be cautioned not to take rash actions or burn too many bridges when under the influence of this transit. Rather, use it to build on the structures that are valid in your life and explore new possibilities — and, I might add, with the confidence that the ‘flowering’ is at hand.

BLACK MOON LILITH

One more player I’d like to introduce to you at this time is the black moon lilith. It’s actually the empty focal point the between earth and moon’s orbit and its symbolism represents the shadow aspect — specifically the screaming angry, truth seeking side of our lunar ( sub-conscious) selves. She’s a powerful, primal force hidden away in our psyche’s and by transit usually signals something that has to be let go of. As an enforcer of radical breakthroughs, she slices away all falsehoods swiftly and decisively. She is a defender of your deepest and most heart felt truth — something that is often buried deep in our psyches and all too often even hidden from ourselves.
She can move fairly quickly and does have a retrograde motion. Currently she is moving through the sign of sagittarius, alternating between a conjunction with pluto and forming an exact t-square (challenging aspect) with the saturn and uranus opposition…. adding her two cents to the challenges at hand …

OK., so she is a heavy weight, but on the plus side , if one is truly cleared and aligned with one’s true light, Lilith will swiftly and decisively reveal the benefits and rewards that are genuine.

On a personal note eclipses energize the house that they fall in in your natal chart , as well as any close planetary placements. This will continue to be the case for the next several months. So take note of where that is for you and anticipate new beginnings and fresh starts in those departments of your life.

Eclipses are always near the position of the moon’s nodal axis. Currently, transiting North node is 24 degrees Aquarius and South node ( which is exactly opposite in the zodiac) is at 24 degrees Leo. As commented on in previous newsletters the N. node has been in close aspect to chiron and neptune in recent months. The nodes are like the rudder of a ship in that they steer us in the direction that we need to go on in our evolutionary pathway. The north is indicative of where we are headed and what energies are currently being infused into the world and the south node is a point of releasing the old and (hopefully) fully integrated energies that we have recently experienced.

Sunday Aug 10 : Chiron was in exact (by degree and minute) conjunction with the N.node in Aquarius at the same time the transiting sun was in exact conjunction (degree and minute) with the S.node in Leo. — triggering healing, integration and release experiences. By reflecting back over the last few days you can get some indication of what and where in your life this is operating in.

The key concepts to keep in mind is that the sun ‘illuminates’ and chiron points to where we originally split from the divine source (which we experience as some kind ofpain or lose). This happening last weekend is a kind of intermediary step between the two eclipses. Eclipses always happen in pairs. First the solar eclipse at the new moon and two weeks later at the full moon a lunar eclipse happens.

August 12 The annual Persaid meteor shower is at its peak. This show of ‘falling stars’ —really the remnants of a comet– happens near the sign of the Taurus. It is in this zodiac sign that the famous grouping of the Pleiades star cluster can be found. Comets function as independent bodies that pass through a solar system and spread some ‘new’ kind of information.— kind of like a cosmic newsletter. This ’star shower ‘ happens every year at this time and is the strongest and most prolific of the annual meteor showers that we receive.

The Pleiades (also known as the ’seven sisters’ ) has an important and long standing place in many cultural traditions. They are associated with spiritual forces that assist the human race to evolve by awakening and balancing the heart chakra (love vibration). Some sources also say that our sun was originally part of this star system revolving around its central star –Alcyone. It was the most distant of this star cluster and its orbit was disrupted by by a celestial event sometime in the distant past. This suggests a distant kinship of a primordial order –and a kind of genetic link with our ‘ancestors’.
Aug 15 Mayan calendar timing. The 4th world of the galactic begins and with it brings new possibilities emerging and promises of a new infusion of light into this current ‘tun’. From the Mayan viewpoint we are in fast shifting times which are leading up to the ‘end time’ on Dec 21 2012. Our current time is primarily directed to changing the perceptions in our collective mind set —away from left brain dominant thinking and into a state of right brain/ left brain balance. This is a pre requesit for the ‘paridigm shift’ that is about to manifest by the end date of their calendar.

aug 16 lunar eclipse at 24 degrees 21 minutes Aquarius. A lunar eclipse is a full moon event. Full moons are a time of peak activity and promise ripeness and fruitation. Where ever it falls in your birthchart something is coming into visibility, becoming illuminated or expressing itself with dramatic awareness. As with the solar eclipse, this one also resonates for several months in the areas it connects to in your chart.

Mercury is retrograde from May 26 — June 19. It’s the planet associated with communication, education and travel. The term retrograde refers to periods of time when the planet’s motion appears to be going reverse in the sky. This creates an introversion of its energy which often results in delays, false directions and miscommunications. The classic astrological advise is to avoid signing contracts or finalizing plans. Expect delays and breakdowns of all kinds…and its time to clear the air of any misunderstandings that may have developed.
So what’s the good news? It is time to rethink ,redo,research. This will provide the basis for more appropriately aligned actions once mercury’s motion goes direct again.Mercury is characterized as a very fast moving energy ( he’s the winged messenger of the gods ) –he rules the mind and all thought processes. Our thoughts fuel our actions. The tendency is over time, to get ahead of ourselves and to presume that the rest of the world is automatically on board with our ideas and plans. Retrograde times provide a natural slow down period in which we can balance and correct ourselves. After the retrograde period —what ever you have had to revise and rework will be on a much better footing to successfully act on.

Gemini New Moon

To add to this June 3rd ushered in the Gemini new moon, beginning a new lunar month cycle. New moons are a time of fresh starts and new beginnings. Keep in mind however that gemini is ruled by mercury so the retrograde motion will have its impact on the entire lunar month.

Within the chart for the new moon there are 4 planets in gemini making a positive easy flow aspect (trine) to chiron and the north node. Chiron is the ‘wounded healer’ and it functions to bring us into a deepened awareness of life via experiencing and coming to understand the ‘pain body’. The north node acts like a rudder of a ship that steers us forward into our destiny. This new moon chart sets yet another tone that resonates with the mayan perspective—shebalba–5th night– ‘dark night of the soul’– time for releasing all that is false with in us…

Chiron conjunct North Node

Chiron is exactly conjunct the north node this week. (that is, both are in the same degree and minute of the zodiac). This happening heralds in a new 18 yr. cycle for individual and collective healing. The direction for new growth in life is represented by the moon’s north node. Chiron, the wounded healer, also functions as the gate keeper for the evolution of consciousness.

It is also worth noting that neptune is in a conjunction with these two bodies. Meaning it’s vibration will infuse throughout this new cycle, as well. Neptune’s energy dissolves separateness and merges all things with the universal. Neptune is our link with the divine source.

One additional point to note is that with this new cycle — there is an opening of up the ‘airways’ for a new batch of healer’s to come forward and begin doing their work in the world…might you be one of them?

NEW MOON IN TAURUS

Monday May 5 at 5:18 am brought in another moon cycle, new moon in Taurus to be exact. Interestingly enough if you happened to be watching the sky at that time you would have seen a burst of shooting stars originating in the constellation of aquarius! (4-5am ).

These meteorites are remnants from the tail of Hailey’s comet and they were an unusually large showing due to the proximity of Jupiter (in Capricorn ) and its gravitational pull. The timing of this which coincided with the new moon
adds both energy and illumination to this months’ lunar cycle. ( A new moon represents a new start of activity.) And especially to any planetary activity in the sign of aquarius.

Why is that special?

In terms of the archetypal symbolism of astrology, comets are considered messengers. They are large foreign bodies that come from outside of our solar system and make independent orbits through it. Symbolically, they
bring new information which is outside of our ‘normal’ frame of reference.

The sign of aquarius rules invention, progressive thinking and humanitarian causes.
The planet jupiter connects us with wisdom and the ‘higher mind’.
Also of note currently,is the exact conjunction of neptune with moon’s north node in aquarius right now.
Node’s are sensitive points that act like the rudder of a ship —steering in the direction we need to take for new growth. Neptune is the planet that symbolises spirituality and inspiration.

Collectively we have been entering the ‘age of aquarius’ step by step over the past few decades. The changing of the ages implies a paradigm shift in global thinking (and being). From the Mayan calendar perspective this event would indicate yet another sublet shift in the evolution of consciousness which is preparing us for 2012.

Events like the one I’ve described effect us all on some level. Some people will be more effected than others, however. Partly this depends on where the activity falls in your personal birth chart—via which house aquarius rules in your chart and whether or not neptune and the north node of the moon make a strong aspect to any of your birth planets or one of the four angles.

SATURN:

Saturn has recently gone direct, May 1st to be exact. In astrological symbolism saturn rules career and karma. It has been retrograde since last christmas. Retrograde motion directs the planetary energy inwards. One often frustrating effect of retrograde motion is delayed plans, false starts and the need to rethink your goals.
Happily, now that saturn’s motion has gone direct again it signals a period of time(until the end of December) in which you can move forward on career or ‘life purpose’ based plans successfully.

Mayan Calendar

In order to resonate with what is going on we need to have some understanding of the Mayan calendar and its prophecies. The ancient mayans were very sophisticated astronomers and astrologers. Specifically, the calendar know as the ‘long count’ covers a span of over 16 billion years. Starting, presumably, from the big bang and ending, specifically on — dec. 21 2012. Mayan astrology is galaxy based (the milky way) where as conventional astrology is solar system based.
There are 9 ‘underworlds’, each consisting of 13 ‘tuns’. Each underworld is 20 times shorter in duration than the last one and –interestingly– each exists simultaneously– all of them coming to an end at sunrise Dec 21 2012 , when the sun will be in direct alignment with our galactic center –27 degrees sagittarius.

The calendar is NOT a marker of linear time as we know it (as is our regular seasonal calendar). Instead it is a system that organizes, sequences and directs the ‘evolution of consciousness’.

The 8th underworld: the Galactic Underworld

We are currently in the 8th underworld — the galactic underworld—12.8yrs. long. It began Jan. 5 1999. Its purpose is to balance the right and left sides of the brain. Typically, left brain , rational/ material thinking tends to dominate us. Unfoldment and harmonizing of the intuitive nature is the purpose of this underworld. This is playing out on a personal level as well as on the global stage.

Currently we are in the ‘5th night’. —the 360 day basic unit of time, called a ‘tun’. It began on Nov.19 2007. Specifically this period of time is referred to as the ‘budding’ and its energy is about internalizing and integrating what is ‘budding’ in your life — as your personal truth.

A major part of the process in getting to one’s ‘personal truth’ is about facing and releasing ones shadow material or deeply held cellular pain. To the maya the 5th night is associated with what they termed ’shebalba’ –or the dark night of the soul. In essence the experience of this ‘tun’ is the inner journey of clearing and healing deeply held cellular memories which cause dis-ease (your personal ‘un-truths’) and to break free from the cultural ‘lie’. (the rational/material imbalance)

Alchemy, deep healing and the cleansing of the luminous energy field are necessary to embody the spirit of your truth. This cleansing is required to ‘lighten’ the body so that it is able to hold the vibrational level of pure light that is currently coming in waves to the planet–and completely by 2012.

Collectively this process gives us the opportunity to make a ’standing way’. The more our physical bodies lighten the more divine light can come through us and intensify and amplify its effect on the planet.

Is the first moon cycle of this season. Aries is the sign of new beginnings and the pioneering spirit. The waxing moon (1st 2 weeks before the full moon) is the best time to start projects, whether it is seeding the garden or initiating a valued personal project
neptune, chiron, north node in aquarius

A very signifigent and rare combination has been forming in the sky over the past few weeks between neptune ( the planet of spirituality and universal love), chiron ( the ‘wounded healer’ ) and the north node of the moon (point of our unfolding destiny). They will come to their closest conjunction on June 2 of this year and will continue to stay in close relationship with eachother throughout 2008. This is a major transit which facilitates the healing of the ‘darkness’ in ourselves and the opening up to unconditional love.
The negative side of this combination is: increased confusion and denial used as a defense mechanism to avoid healing those painful areas. This course will only lead to a continued sense of seperateness, limitation and dis-ease on a soul level.
